State Public Affairs Committee (SPAC)

Junior League of Cobb-Marietta SPAC

Members of JLCM attending the Georgia Day at the Capitol!

What is SPAC?

SPAC is the acronym for the Junior Leagues’ State Public Affairs Committee. Its mission is to engage in project-driven legislative advocacy on behalf of its member Leagues according to the following areas:
  • The aid and protection of all women, children and vulnerable populations
  • Quality Education
  • Improved Access to Healthcare
  • Initiatives that remove barriers and promote equality

What is the purpose of SPAC?

SPACs are individual, apolitical Junior Leagues or coalitions of Junior Leagues within a state that form to educate and take action on public policy issues relevant to The Junior League Mission. SPAC’s inception began in 1930, shortly after the Junior League was founded.

Which SPAC is JLCM a part of?

JLCM is a proud member of the State Public Affairs Committee of Georgia which is the advocacy arm of the Junior Leagues of Georgia. This group meets routinely to monitor the state legislative process and address issues of political importance to the members of the Junior Leagues. Follow GA SPAC on Facebook

How are the interests of my league represented?

Each league has two SPAC delegates to represent the interests of their League and cast votes according to that interest. Per SPAC’s bylaws, each member League has a single vote which is cast by the SPAC Delegate A.
SPAC delegates vote to support, oppose, or watch legislation that is brought before the delegation.

How can I get involved?

There are several ways JLCM members can get involved:
  • Attend General Membership Meetings regularly to become informed about legislation that could effect you.
  • GA SPAC meets once a month. All are welcome to participate to hear about the latest in Georgia legislation.
  • SPAC is a two-way street so please keep JLCM leadership and delegates informed about any legislation you are passionate about.
  • Come out to support SPAC at Georgia Day at the Capitol!
